  	In January 1920 Census he listed his age as 87, suggesting that he was born in 1832-33. However he was not yet born when the 1834 List of Male Jews Entitled to Reside in Hasenpoth was recorded. His brother Isser, age 2 at that time, was the youngest one listed. And there was a brother David born between them. So Lazar could not have been born before 1835.

Theckla and Sophie are on another page. The manifest says that they were going to L. Perelman & Family, who lived at 209 Sixth Avenue in New York, and that their passage was paid for by their sons. Lazar and Betty list their occupations as tailors. Fredricka is listed as a "hostess."   According to the Latvian State Archives, the "Courland Tax Administration" notes that in 1891 he lived in Libau at Beregovaya Street in the house of Zeltaborn. He actually left from Copenhagen, Denmark, with his wife and three youngest daughters to attend Lena's wedding. We do not know how they got to Copenhagen from Libau, Latvia. He came to America on the S.S. Hellig Olav, which left Copenhagen on August 24, 1904 and arrived in New York on September 6. He worked as a tailor in Latvia and in New York.
