    Notes
    • According to their grand-daughter, Grace Gilbert Munoz: "Isidore and Rose owned a liquor store. But it was in Rose's name, as was the liquor license. This is because Isidore had a “minor” criminal conviction for bootlegging. They would make whiskey in the bathtub, put it in bottles in the stroller, and put baby Jack in the stroller, then deliver the bottles. Of course the joke is that Uncle Jack was raised on liquor!"

  • Notes
    • When Jack was very sick as a child with a deadly blood disease, his mother, Rose Miller, symbolically “sold” him to Fredricka Perlman, because the Perlmans were a robust and healthy family, to avoid the "evil eye" and to fool the Angel of Death (as was done in the Old Country).
